The price of onion and potato in the city have gone up despite the Navratra season.
Most of the houses don’t prefer to make things made up of onion or garlic during the Navratras.
The onion price has gone up to Rs 70 per kg in the retail market. Also, the price of potato has gone up to Rs 50-60 per kg in the retail market.
“On Thursday, the wholesale price of onion ranged from Rs 40-60 per kg, which was Rs 25-40 per kg over a week ago,” said Srikant Mishra of Azadpur Union Traders Association.
The price of onions and other vegetables has increased because the supply chain from the farms was severely affected due to rains.
“Our onion, soybean, and corn were wasted due to rainfall. The farmers have paid the price of their labour. The price hike of onions was due to climatic conditions and events of the past months,” a farmer told ANI.
